Will Wilson

July 19, 2010

Tonight photographer and installation artist Will Wilson will be giving a lecture at the Santa Fe Art Institute. It will be held at Tipton Hall at 6pm.

$10 general, $5 students/seniors/members

Will Wilson (Navajo) explores his relationship to the land and the environmental issues that continue to affect his community in the series,  Auto Immune Response. Through manipulating his photographs of the Southwest landscape, Wilson envelops the viewer in the beauty of the land while giving away subtle signs of destruction caused by colonization. Within the seven images that make up the series, Wilson not only suggests the negative impact of uranium mining and the contamination of land, but also the healing process and a sense of renewal.

incredible photographs…inspires me…when you read all the national parks papers you also start to understand what has happened to the land. in 2030 there won’t be any more glaciers in glacier national park
