Dashanzi 798 Art District: old electronics factory designed by German architects in the Bauhaus style. abandoned in the 90’s and reclaimed by artists beginning in 1995. interesting area and idea but overall the galleries seemed pretty showy. santa fe style art snobbery.

  1. What fun…we were in Beijing last Oct. Didn’t get to the art district however we did see the Temple of Heaven. We were on a Chamber of Commerce 9/day tour of Beijing, Shang (rode the Maglev Train!), Souzhow & Hangzou. No “smog” to speak of & had beautiful weather. WEre very disappointed with the number of cars in the cities rather than bicycles! Enjoy it all!
