first stop: aurangabad

Took an overnight bus from Indore to Aurangabad where we toured the city for affordable rooms and nearly caused a fist fight between some eager rickshaw drivers. We were eventually accompanied by one of the fellows below who rode with us to Ellora caves. The caves date back to between the 5th – 10th century and served as temples for Buddhists, Hindus and Jains. Each religion is represented in their own series of caves; all existing peacefully together.

Promptly left the city the next day, catching another overnight bus further South to Goa…
