village tour; cruisin’ with salu

August 7, 2013

Went on an adventure with my tuktuk driver, Salu, to some villages outside of Fort Cochin. The rain took a break and gave us a chance to hang out with the fishermen and their morning catch. We chatted by the water and walked on a deserted, but clean (!!) beach.

Back in Fort Cochin we stopped by a lassi shop that has been around for 30 years, selling nothing but two different kinds of lassi- regular and special. The special is perfectly chilled and spiced with cardamom, clove and cinnamon. Perfect. We also stopped at a spice shop where women were packaging rice flour and a ginger storeroom where women were picking through ginger. Last we hung around a friend’s fruit shop where I mimed with the shopkeeper for a commercial.

Still more to come..
